POSITION: Head of Staff/Senior Pastor
Essential duties and responsibilities:
WPC will thrive with a Senior Pastor who has the gift to engage current membership, connect with all ages, bridge generations, and inspire the participation of younger members within the congregation. We desire a strong preacher who can deliver relatable messages from the pulpit, connecting the Bible to our current lives and situations. Our congregation and staff need someone with compassion and empathy to help nurture us; someone who is also a good listener and a thoughtful human being.
The Senior Pastor we call will need to have experience managing a large church with large programs. They will be required to articulate the vision, direction, and strategy that aligns with the three major concepts of our mission statement: “connect, serve, and transform.” The ability to help develop and execute successful programs by aligning the staff will also be required.

● Ability to lead the church in developing a strategic plan and assessing the resources needed to execute the plan
● Ability to promote interaction of all staff relationships and build camaraderie
● Ability to effectively organize work schedule and meet deadlines
● Ability to work in a team-oriented work environment and communicate effectively
Tasks, expectations, duties, supervision, assignments, and responsibilities for the position:
The WPC Senior Pastor/Head of Staff will be responsible for the following.
● Develop an understanding of already established, outstanding programs within the church and define their vision and mission goals through new programming. Articulate these to the congregation, motivate, energize, and be a catalyst for action.
● Focus on growth of the church, including a plan to reconnect to prior members who have left the church in recent years
● Actively promote fellowship, nurture the care and growth of an inter-generational congregation; and espouse a wide array of mission work that includes local, national, and international support
● Provide leadership planning for education programs and other programs in discipleship and ministry training, in coordination with other ordained and lay leaders
● Build an intentional strategy and executable plan to attract, retain and engage a more diverse membership including young adults and all types of families
● Provide leadership to the pastoral staff in the design and implementation of all church ministries
● Work with Session and other specialty committees to define the short- and long-term strategic goals and vision of WPC, to include growth of our congregation and its mission outreach activities, as well as legacy giving
● Guide and lead Session as necessary to ensure WPC is being fiscally responsible with its financial resources and remains financially viable
