Job description: Tenor and Alto Staff Singer Vacancies

St. Paul & the Redeemer Episcopal Church, in Chicago’s Hyde Park/Kenwood neighborhood, seeks a classically-trained tenor and an alto who are comfortable singing in a variety of styles. The primary purpose of the position is to provide leadership within a section of eager volunteers. While some solo and small ensemble work will be included, Staff Singers endeavor at all times to engender a relational leadership style over a presentational one. Collegiality, good humor, and comfort instructing amateurs are essential.

The choir season begins the Thursday after Labor Day, and this season will run through Sunday, June 11, 2023.

For more information and to schedule an audition–interview, contact Mark Bilyeu, Director of Music, at bilyeu@sprchicago.org Please include resumé, and links to recordings if available.

St. Paul & the Redeemer is a community that

• holds together a progressive outlook and a rootedness in the traditions we've received.

• is woven of different races, economic statuses, cultural backgrounds, faith backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations.

• is strengthened and enriched by each person's story and voice.

• honors both faith and doubt, bringing together our highest hopes and our deepest fears.

Our vision is to become a community that mirrors the radical hospitality practiced by Jesus.

SPR’s Anti-Racism Vision Statement

We strive to become a beloved community that reflects on our own racial identities and recognizes racism and privilege in our church and society; works for justice by building relationships and sustained efforts to heal, reconcile, and seek Christ in each other; and acts to interrupt and dismantle white supremacist structures, transforming ourselves and our church to become a living embodiment of justice and peace.
