Please check out their MIF # 08608.AD0 for additional information and self-referral details on the Church Leadership Connection. This position is suitable for a first call and would include a housing allowance.
First Presbyterian Pampa is a small, traditional, tightly knit, intergenerational church family located in the Texas Panhandle, less than an hour from Amarillo, Texas. We are governed by a nine-member session, two trustees, and no deacons. The Panhandle area has tons to offer and is a great place to live!
Our vision for ministry is straightforward. We strive to be a reflection of God's love to not only our Church family, but to the community as a whole. We live this out by spending time praying together, supporting one another through life's anguishes, as well as times of joy.
Our members are heavily involved in the community. Several serve on multiple boards, volunteer weekly and are community leaders. Our church is involved as a whole by:
Providing a Wednesday night bible study for children from our church and the community. This group serves the Good Samaritan Food Pantry once a month.
Holding church services/events that are attended by members of other churches and the community. Such as: Kirkin’ of the Tartans, 11PM Candlelight Christmas Eve Service, Ash Wednesday, Seder Meal, Palm Sunday, and Men’s Thanksgiving Dinner.
Hosting an annual Community wide Trunk or Treat with a complimentary hotdog meal.
Participating in a Christmas mission involving our youth
Playing the carillon bells as a voice of our church to our neighborhood.
Sponsoring a Boy Scout Troop that meets weekly in our basement.
Contributing to the 4 major PCUSA offerings.
We are looking for a minister to spark a feeling of belonging and desire to attend services and get more members involved in church activities. We need guidance and direction in ways to engage our current members in a collective church wide activity that is purposeful and will meet a need in our community. We are open to new ideas implemented elsewhere with great results that would have a positive impact here. We seek guidance to do God’s work, so that we would be a reflection of God’s love in our ministry to the present-day world.
Our prayer is that the new pastor will be the catalyst in a movement looking in a more outwardly and forward direction. Our church has been without a called pastor since late 2016 and we are eager for a new called leader. During this time, we have developed strong leadership within the members of the church which, we believe, is part of God’s plan for the future of our congregation. We have an education building with classrooms and a parlor for church fellowship. Our sanctuary has beautiful stained-glass windows and a digital pipe organ to enhance our worship service.
The citizens of Pampa are very proud to live here with multiple organizations that enhance the community and support those in need. We cheer for our students in sporting events and the arts. The Panhandle area is a unique blend of what it's like to be a Texan with farming, ranching, wind energy, petroleum and natural gas serving as the basis of our economy. It is not uncommon at all to hear one speak of Pampa as a great place to raise a family. We are trusting God to call a pastor who will be involved in all areas of our church, attentive to congregational care, and inspire us to become a larger presence in our community.
