McCormick campus reopens Tuesday
Classes will be in session as scheduled tomorrow as communicated earlier through our Rave Alert emergency notification system. Seminary offices will be open as usual. Though conditions are clear and improving, the bitter cold remains an issue. Please take every precaution in these extremely cold temperatures.
The Weather Service predicts that temperatures will rise about 20 degrees tomorrow; however, the cold still poses a risk of hypothermia and frost bite. You should continue to avoid prolonged exposure outdoors. Dress very warmly and make sure that exposed skin, especially bodily extremities (fingers, ears, etc.), are covered. When travelling please drive safely and allow for extra time to arrive at your destination.
Some faculty and students coming from out of town or those returning to Illinois are facing difficulties travelling into Chicago whether by expressway or into area airports. Professors are working with staff to accommodate revised plans. Details about changed schedules and make-up classes will be discussed in those courses that are affected. Please check your emails for communications coming from faculty and staff about changes to the course schedule. We understand that the weather can impact travel in ways that cannot be predicted. Staff and faculty with particular circumstances are encouraged to be in touch with their supervisors, the dean, or members of the administrative cabinet.
We owe a debt of gratitude to those faculty, staff, and administrators who have been especially responsive in these out of the ordinary conditions. Thank you for exercising patience as we look forward to a productive and generative beginning to 2014.
