Professor Reggie Williams to Speak at The Justice Conference

Reggie Williams is honored to be one of the pre-conference speakers. He will be speaking on From Babel to Pentecost: Bonhoeffer, Jesus, and Justice. This is a historical interaction with a prophetic witness for justice in the midst of an unjust society shaped by harmful ideals.

The Justice Conference will be held at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles, California, this year from Thursday, February 20 through Sunday, February 23.

The Justice Conference is an annual national primary conference and a network of partner sites that annually educates, inspires and connects a generation of men and women around a shared concern for biblical and social justice, the vulnerable and oppressed.

The Justice Conference is also a movement of students, teachers, business people, parents, artists, social entrepreneurs, pastors, advocates and academics all of whom are discovering the paradox that true life is found when we give our lives away on behalf of others. 

Dr. Reggie Williams is an Assistant Professor of Christian Ethics at McCormick Theological Seminary, in Chicago. His research interests are primarily focused on the connection between Christian interpretations of the way of Jesus, and Christian morality. His current research investigates how popular Western-world interpretations of Christianity have been calibrated to a false ideal that corresponds with racialized interpretations of humanity, morality, and Jesus. His current book project is an analysis of the developments within Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s theology and ethics, as a result of his experience in the Harlem Renaissance, 1930-31, forthcoming from Baylor University Press.
