Over a three-year period, supported by a grant from the Lily Endowment, McCormick Theological Seminary’s HeartWork Rising Trauma Healing Initiative will engage in institution-wide learning and practices in order to equip clergy and congregations to respond to the communal and systemic nature of trauma.
POSITION SUMMARY
The role of the trauma-informed mental health practitioner for the Trauma Healing Initiative (THI) is to provide clinical oversight of THI’s internal functions, education, and programming involving MTS’ internal stakeholders, community constituents, and program participants. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting and guiding organizations, communities, and individuals in recovering from and thriving beyond multiple and often overlapping forms of trauma (systemic, historical, intergenerational, and interpersonal).
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment and Strategic Support
Work with the Director to assess organizational health and identify areas for growth.
Collaborate with THI Director and MTS units to develop key performance indicators that actively engage trauma-informed and healing-centered commitments.
Provide resources for clinical and social intervention as needed to THI and MTS internal faculty, students and external community partners
Support the Director in drafting and distributing program reports
Perform additional project management duties as assigned
Clinical Oversight
Provide clinical oversight of planning and implementation of institutional learning and engagement of trauma-informed and healing-centered practices in the workspace.
Provide clinical oversight of all internal and public-facing education and programming.
Perform additional clinical project management duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND SKILLS
Minimum working and educational experience:
Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related human services field.
Licensure in the state of IL (LPC, LSW, MFT; LCPC, LCSW or LICSW)
At least 3 years of related clinical experience working with organizations around institutional change
At least 2 years of related clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, and families
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated critical thinking skills
Proficient with strategic interventions for institutional growth and development•
Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate must possess strong connections with local and national mental health resources.
Studies in spirituality and/or faith are a bonus.
Possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, must be computer literate, and demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or mac OS programs.

Type of work environment associated with the job:
This position works in a clean, well-lit area. This position is not susceptible to job hazards; however, due to routine operation/use of computers, normal rest brakes may be required.
This position is hybrid and may require local travel
